Suzie Marsh

Suzie’s figurative animal sculptures have gained acclaim over the las 30 years and she now has a loyal following both in the UK and abroad. She has undertaken many private and business commissions including sculpture exhibits for a museum in Taiwan and the public installation of Nelson the Seal at Looe Harbour in Cornwall. Her work aims to reflect her own fascination with an animal’s character and her figurative style captures their form precisely.
As an animal lover, Suzie produces work to aid several animal charities and donates part of her profits to them. The plight of moon bears in China and Vietnam being ‘milked’ for their bile has become an overriding concern and her commitment to Jill Robinson of Animals Asia with her design of ‘Hope of Freedom’ (the Animals Asia elephant in the 2010 London Elephant Parade) and her ‘Moonstruck’ exhibition in 2012 raised substantial funds for the charity. Suzie says, “To express what it means to me to help these bears is almost impossible to put into words. I know I am completely under the bears spell and do what I can for them in own small way and will always wish it could be more.”
In recognition of her own five cats, who double as artists models, Suzie is also a keen supporter of Cats Protection.
Suzie initial sculptures are worked in clay, and most of her work is cast in resins with varying different finishes. The different finishes are obtained by using inert fillers like sintered bronze, powdered stone and even crushed almonds. This modern material can reproduce the original in flawless detail, giving a true copy of the original. Suzie's sculptures in bronze, pewter and resins are all suitable for the home or garden.
